About the Role
As a Lead Tooling Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the success of Airbus Atlantic Composites' A220 program. Reporting to the Methods Manager, your initial focus will be on developing and maintaining tooling activities for the A220, leading a team of four talented engineers. By 2025, your responsibilities will expand to encompass the management of the entire tooling workshop, overseeing its design, industrialization, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify the essential tools required for A220 production processes.
- Design and specify tools that meet program requirements, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Provide expert technical support throughout the procurement and industrialization phases, guiding decisions on tooling choices and tenders.
- Collaborate closely with methods and operations teams to ensure seamless tool integration during initial manufacturing, providing troubleshooting support as needed.
- Receive, validate, and oversee the successful industrialization of new tools, ensuring final acceptance by the operations manager.
- Manage the transfer of tools to different manufacturing sites, coordinating logistics and ensuring smooth transitions.
- Lead tooling optimization initiatives driven by production needs, continuously seeking improvements in efficiency and performance.
- Effectively manage suppliers involved in tooling studies and manufacturing, fostering strong partnerships and driving quality outcomes.
- Monitor key performance indicators for tooling activities, generating comprehensive reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance quality, reduce costs, optimize timeframes, and improve ergonomics within the tooling department.
- Contribute to the development of the tooling department by refining processes, standardizing document templates, and promoting best practices.
- Lead tool maintenance activities, ensuring optimal functionality and longevity of critical equipment.
Essential Skills:
Proficiency in CATIA software is essential. A strong understanding of potential compliance risks and a commitment to integrity are crucial for success in this role.
