Job Overview
Fleet Maintenance Specialist
Support the transportation department in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the district's vehicle fleet. Responsibilities include: cleaning and fueling vehicles, performing oil changes on fleet equipment, assisting mechanics with significant repairs, and preparing all vehicles for annual inspections.
Student Transport Operator
Ensure safe and efficient transportation for students, allowing them to fully benefit from the district's educational and extracurricular programs.
*This role encompasses both Fleet Maintenance Specialist and Student Transport Operator duties.
- Prior experience in bus driving is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Paid training and support for obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S&P Endorsement will be provided.
Compensation: $16.00-$22.25/hour (salary based on relevant experience)
Employment Terms: 8 hours/day, 12 months/year
Qualifications
Fleet Maintenance Specialist
- Completion of a standard high school or trade school program, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Familiarity with standard practices, tools, and terminology related to automotive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance techniques, including electrical systems, electronics, small engine repair, and hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Student Transport Operator
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Kansas, with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL with S and P endorsements.
- Maintain qualifications as a school bus driver.
- Ability to pass a bus driver physical examination.
- Ability to complete a Medic First Aid Course.
- Ability to successfully complete a Defensive Driving Course.
*Available to employees working 5.75+ hours/day, 5 days/week.
