Job Title: Technical Lead - Satellite Ground Segment Operations

As a key member of the Earth Observation unit's ground segment team, you will oversee the technical advancement of satellite ground segment processing systems where Magellium operates, focusing on satellite imagery and atmospheric analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in the architecture of high-efficiency Earth Observation data processing systems,
  • Specification, design, oversight of development, and validation monitoring,
  • Familiarity with lifecycle: spatial engineering methodologies (ECSS), agile practices,
  • Managing technical initiatives for a development team,
  • Creation of methodological documentation for development phases: milestones, reviews, technical discussions,
  • Acting as the technical liaison with clients or partners.

Applicants should possess an Engineering degree from a reputable institution, with substantial experience in satellite ground segments and methodologies, particularly in Earth Observation.

Preferred qualifications include a background in remote sensing, image processing, atmospheric analysis, or related disciplines.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Earth Observation ground segments and associated development lifecycle, engineering standards (ECSS or equivalent),
  • Comprehension of the Earth Observation and remote sensing domain,
  • Proficiency in handling large datasets in a complex environment,
  • Software development experience in scientific and operational contexts,
  • Familiarity with parallel, distributed, and cloud processing technologies,
  • Programming skills in C++, Python, Java,
  • Scientific Computing expertise, digital tools for scientific computation, parallel computing techniques,
  • Ability to engage technically with clients, subcontractors, and partners,
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

These processing systems, whether prototypes or operational, are developed for integration into satellite ground segments. The uniqueness lies in mastering both scientific or algorithmic remote sensing techniques and the engineering, methodological, organizational, and IT aspects of processing systems in a frequently constrained environment demanding robustness and performance.
