Electronics and Power Systems Architect for In-Orbit Services

Il y a 3 mois

Paris, Île-de-France Exotrail SA Temps plein

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electronics and Power Systems Architect to become a key member of our In-Orbit Servicing (IoS) team. This role involves leading the development and architectural design of electronics and power systems essential for our innovative transportation vehicle dedicated to small satellites.

The IoS team consists of a diverse group of systems engineers and specialists focused on the initial mission of our transportation vehicle. You will take charge of the electronics and power architecture for the platform, engaging in a broad spectrum of activities including board design, manufacturing oversight, and testing, alongside high-level design of the satellite's power and data systems. Collaboration with the software development team and existing electronics engineers at Exotrail will be crucial.

At Exotrail, we value individuals eager to engage in a wide array of responsibilities. This position is ideal for candidates looking to enhance their expertise, transitioning from intricate technical tasks to broader project management roles.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop the electronics and power architecture (including electrical, data, grounding, and harness systems) for the transportation vehicle in collaboration with the IoS team (covering systems, payload, propulsion, etc.).
  2. Engage in the electrical integration and testing of various modules and payloads, including the creation of procedures for all active subsystems in partnership with other teams.
  3. Design specialized boards and harnesses for the vehicle (including component selection, schematics, and routing).
  4. Oversee the manufacturing, procurement, and acceptance testing of in-house designed boards and harnesses.
  5. Manage the procurement and testing of power systems.
  6. Coordinate software development efforts with the embedded software team.

The transportation vehicle will utilize high-performance electric propulsion, necessitating the ability to generate and manage substantial power relative to its size. While complex subsystems will be sourced from specialized suppliers, some boards will be developed in-house. A robust power system is vital for delivering effective service with the vehicle.

Additionally, future iterations of the vehicle are anticipated, focusing on enhanced propulsion capabilities that will demand greater power, alongside planned updates to the vehicle's electronics.

The role of the Electronics and Power Systems Architect may evolve to include the design of new concepts, transition into a managerial position, or shift towards production responsibilities.

You will collaborate closely with the VP of In-Orbit Services and the Lead Engineer of the IoS team.

Desired Qualifications

Exotrail is in search of an electronics and power architect with practical experience in electronics design, spanning from initial concept through to production and testing, as well as familiarity with high-level architectures. Ideally, candidates will have a background in satellite projects and experience designing electronics for space applications.

Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in space-related power systems or demonstrate exceptional qualifications for this role.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will embody the following attributes:

  • A strong interest in technical work, from high-level requirements to detailed manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • High levels of autonomy and a proactive approach.
  • A pragmatic mindset, willingness to take risks, and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • A desire to thrive in the dynamic and challenging environment of a start-up.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and explore various career advancement pathways within Exotrail, a company committed to becoming a leader in space logistics solutions.
