We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Manulife Financial Corporation. As a leading international financial services group, we help people make informed decisions and improve their lives.
About the RoleAs a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust software solutions. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and coding new features and functionality
- Collaborating with technical program managers, software engineers, quality engineers, and IT business analysts to deliver new business value through software
- Maintaining high-quality software by writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to industry practices and coding standards
- Building best-in-class applications, APIs, and data solutions to drive business and technical outcomes
- Reviewing current software frameworks to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance and stability
- Proficiency in testing and debugging back-end code to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability
- Understanding of standard processes for securing back-end systems, including authentication, authorization, data encryption, and protection against common security threats
- Ability to create and maintain robust and efficient application programming interfaces (APIs) for communication between different software systems
- Promoting agile principles and methodology
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in C#.NET, Oracle Databases, Azure DB, JavaScript, AKS & Azure cloud services
- Strong data analytics skills, including data validation and classification
- Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate delivery
- Hands-on RDBMS experience (data modeling, analysis, programming, stored procedures)
- Good foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design with rock-solid programming skills
- Agile team experience, including planning and delivery of user stories in an Agile SCRUM environment
