Senior Software Engineer

We are on a mission to build a cutting-edge platform that empowers our engineers to deliver scalable services. Our goal is to provide high-performance transaction systems to all Datadog developers, enabling them to focus on simplicity, reliability, durability, and availability.

We operate services and databases in a cost-efficient and scalable way, maintaining a high-volume, low-latency environment that continues to grow. We value pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity in solving complex problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain the infrastructure needed to support a large number of customers, minimizing issues and controlling costs.
  • Investigate and resolve issues or bottlenecks, whether in the platform code or the client application.
  • Support the services and datastores we own, 24/7.
  • Develop tooling and automation to run our infrastructure with minimal human intervention.
  • Collaborate with developers to design data models and advise on datastores options.
Requirements:
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or at least 5 years of professional experience.
  • You have production experience with distributed systems, such as Zookeeper, Cassandra, Postgres, FoundationDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis, and MongoDB.
  • You are proficient in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Go, Java, Rust, C, or C++.
  • You want to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment that respects its engineers and customers.
  • You can design simple and performant architecture to solve problems at high scale.
  • Bonus Point: You have hands-on engineering experience with at least one major cloud provider, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
