POSITION OVERVIEW
How do the brains of social animals interpret their social environments?
The Neurophysiology of Social Cognition Group at the Institut du Cerveau, led by Julia Sliwa, is in search of an exceptional postdoctoral researcher with a keen interest in exploring the neural foundations of social cognition. Our research focuses on the neural and neuronal mechanisms that encode the structure of social networks in primates and how social perceptions are transformed into social knowledge. We employ a blend of ethological assessments in primates, neuroimaging techniques (fMRI), neurophysiological methods, and extensive data analyses to address these inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate innovative methodologies to investigate brain networks involved in social perception and cognition.
- Explore the neural representation of social networks in the brains of primates from a semi-free-ranging group, utilizing neuroimaging alongside ethological assessments and comprehensive data analyses.
- Assess the contributions of various sensory modalities, including olfaction and touch, to social concepts regarding individuals through neuroimaging and neurophysiology.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
This research initiative lies at the intersection of neuroscience, ethology, and data analysis, making it ideal for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers who are passionate about neuroscience, data science, and primate social structures. Candidates should possess a PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline, with prior experience demonstrated through publications or preprints in in vivo neurophysiology or fMRI studies involving non-human primates. Strong quantitative skills, programming proficiency (in Python, Matlab, or similar languages), and experimental expertise are essential. We welcome international applications, and while proficiency in English is required, fluency in French is not mandatory.
POSITION DETAILS
The positions are fully funded by an ERC Starting Grant and an ANR grant, offering competitive salaries. Candidates will have the opportunity to apply for personal fellowships if desired.
