Role Overview:

As a member of the Data Science team, you will collaborate with various departments to devise optimization strategies that tackle intricate business challenges. Your responsibilities will encompass the design, analysis, and experimentation of operations research methodologies to facilitate both tactical and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage closely with business specialists to comprehend and translate business needs into actionable requirements.
  2. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to convert business requirements into effective solutions.
  3. Employ cutting-edge methodologies and propose innovative algorithms to solve complex issues related to resource allocation, scheduling, facility placement, and network configuration.
  4. Develop, validate, and implement sophisticated simulation and optimization models to inform decision-making.
  5. Identify, gather, and organize data from diverse sources to provide inputs for optimization models.
  6. Determine relevant business KPIs and metrics that align with optimization goals.
  7. Effectively communicate results to various stakeholders and business units.
  8. Assist IT teams in the industrialization and integration of developed optimization and simulation algorithms.
  9. Engage in discussions with both internal and external partners, including academic and industrial collaborators.
  10. Independently manage complex challenges with minimal oversight, escalating only the most intricate issues to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
  1. A Master's degree with 3+ years of experience or a PhD in Operational Research, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  2. A robust foundation in operations research and optimization techniques is essential.
  3. Proficient programming skills in Python/R and C++.
  4. Experience with optimization solvers such as CPLEX and Gurobi.
  5. Strong SQL skills.
  6. Familiarity with the logistics sector is crucial, with knowledge of the maritime industry being highly valued.
  7. Understanding of data science technologies, including Data Analysis and Machine Learning, is advantageous.
  8. Experience with data querying languages and statistical or mathematical software.
  9. Expertise in algorithm development and application.
  10. Exceptional communication abilities.
  11. Capability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  12. Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  13. Innovative and open-minded, with a focus on delivering customer value.
