The Aga Khan Academies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Internal Audit to lead our Internal Audit Department. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls, governance, and risk management processes across all our operations.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement a risk-based annual audit plan in consultation with senior management and the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Conduct internal audits at all our operational locations, including analysis of risk management, governance, compliance, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to senior management to increase effectiveness and reduce risk exposure.
- Follow up on the implementation of agreed-upon audit recommendations and corrective actions.
- Prepare relevant reporting on all audit activities for discussion with the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of internal audit and ensure adherence to professional standards.
- Recognized professional accounting designation such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) with 10 to 15 years post-qualification experience.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit at senior level.
- Additional professional certification such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will be an added advantage.
- Outstanding English language communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computing skills and familiarity with computer-based audit techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Effective management and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and adhere to timelines.
- Experience working internationally.
- Proficiency in Central Asian languages, particularly Russian.
