Position Overview: Commercial Risk Underwriter

We are in search of a talented Commercial Risk Underwriter with a background in Managing General Agents (MGA), Managing General Underwriters (MGU), or the insurance sector to enhance our Workers Compensation Insurance division. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assessing and underwriting commercial insurance applications, ensuring our operations remain profitable and sustainable. If you have a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a solid grasp of commercial insurance policies, we invite you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate risk eligibility in accordance with established program guidelines
  • Examine insurance applications and supporting documents for risk acceptability
  • Propose coverage options and pricing strategies for various risks
  • Draft written communications regarding underwriting decisions
  • Analyze commercial line accounts and their pricing structures
  • Manage a portfolio of business to drive profitability
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and team members
  • Assist with policy binding, endorsements, and overall underwriting processes

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Mandatory)
  • A minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience
  • Strong technical skills in underwriting and knowledge of Workers Compensation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications and adaptable to new software
  • Experience with MGA, MGU, or within the insurance industry
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and possessing a strong work ethic
  • Adept at data analysis and making informed recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as required
  • Capable of independently resolving complex issues
