Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Endoscopy Nurse to join our Hepatology and Gastroenterology team. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized nursing care tailored to the needs of patients in the endoscopy unit.
  • Oversee the entire patient care pathway, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.
  • Organize and facilitate both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic interventions.
  • Assist medical professionals during endoscopic procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Identify and manage potential risks associated with endoscopic procedures.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and operation of endoscopic equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct thorough disinfection and hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Supervise the use of endoscopic instruments and medical devices, ensuring their proper functionality.
  • Mentor and train new staff and interns in endoscopy nursing practices.
  • Engage in the evaluation of nursing practices and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborative workgroups to enhance service delivery.

Work Schedule: Full-time position (35 hours per week) with on-call responsibilities during weekends for emergency situations.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to assess clinical scenarios effectively in the context of endoscopy care.
  • Proficient in ensuring the operational readiness of endoscopic equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate safe nursing activities.
  • Experience in performing endoscopic procedures and managing associated risks.
  • Knowledge of endoscope disinfection processes and procedural evaluations.
  • Capability to handle medical devices with proficiency and ensure their effective use.
  • Commitment to contributing to professional and scientific advancements in the field.
  • Experience in training and guiding new nursing staff.
  • Ability to assess and enhance nursing practices continuously.

Required Knowledge:

  • Proficient in using software applications such as WORD and EXCEL.
  • Strong understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the digestive system.
  • Familiarity with medical and non-medical equipment used in the healthcare setting.
  • Awareness of patient rights, ethical considerations, and professional standards.
  • Knowledge of hospital hygiene practices and organizational protocols.
  • Understanding of specific pathologies and examinations relevant to the service.
  • Familiarity with regulations governing endoscopic procedures.

Qualifications: Candidates must be state-registered nurses with a minimum of three years of experience, preferably in medical-surgical care.

Occupational Health and Safety Training:

  • Completion of radiation protection training (renewed every three years).
  • Training in chemical risk management (renewed every three years).
  • Knowledge of manual handling techniques and safety protocols for hazardous materials.

Medical Surveillance: Compliance with mandatory vaccinations and regular health check-ups as recommended by the occupational health department.
