Job Description

Safran Electrical & Power is seeking an experienced electronics hardware engineer to drive innovation in its research and technology service.

As part of the Electronics Department's 'Bricks and Technologies' Service, you will contribute to the design of critical electronic components such as power modules, their control electronics, and sensor systems for network control or protection (smart motors, motor control converters, network converters, distribution, and battery systems) integrated into severe environments (thermal, vibrational, CEM) for R&D, R&T, or Response to Call for Tender (RAO) programs.

The main missions and activities under the responsibility of the lead engineer are:

  • Participate in the preliminary project phases (proposal request, project definition, estimate, etc.)
  • Design in detail the electronic material functions (analog and digital) of the product
  • Structure and formalize the design requirements for electronic sub-assemblies, write specifications for sub-assemblies, and document the design justification
  • Define development, integration, and verification and validation strategies for electronic bricks
  • Participate in the definition of solution architecture for bricks according to associated roadmaps
  • Co-design products within the team, in collaboration with electronics departments, industrialization teams, and external partners such as Safran Tech. Define jointly the mechanical aspects of power modules with the mechanical team. Define mechanically the bricks with mechanical approval
  • Participate in the definition of strategies (development, integration, configuration management, process assurance, and verification and validation) for systems, equipment, control and power electronic cards (if applicable), in collaboration with other teams
  • Activities related to modeling for power modules, control cards, or sensors: electrical, CEM, thermal simplified in 1D, etc.
  • Perform calculations on expected performance and limits of bricks to be transmitted to power electronics and systems teams
  • Design bricks with the support of electronics teams
  • Specify and design test means with the V&V team
  • Define the test plan and procedures for bricks for internal and outsourced activities (endurance tests, mechanical assemblies, reliability, robustness tests, etc.)
  • Integrate, test, and verify bricks (according to the tasks distribution defined in the V&V plan)
  • Support electronics power, V&V, and systems teams during their integration and verification activities
