Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant to join our USC Medical Department team. In this role, you will work closely with Registered Nurses to deliver high-quality care to our patients. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from providing personal hygiene assistance to supporting patient meals and engaging in continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care, including preventive, curative, educational, and relational aspects.
- Build strong relationships with patients based on trust and a caring approach.
- Assist patients with their reception, installation in the unit, and daily activities, encouraging their autonomy.
- Provide hygiene and comfort care, ensuring patient well-being and dignity.
- Support meal preparation and distribution, including clearing trays and dishes.
- Assist patients during meals, monitor dietary intake, and ensure adherence to prescribed diets.
- Mentor and evaluate interns (AS students, AMP, BEP, caregivers), sharing your knowledge and experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, adhering to hygiene and safety protocols.
- Participate in risk management by reporting malfunctions and adverse events promptly.
- Contribute to institutional working groups, fostering collaboration and improvement.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to identify fundamental needs and assess the health status of individuals or groups.
- Experience in maintaining or restoring autonomy in daily activities for patients.
- Knowledge of basic dietary rules and their application to patient needs.
- Understanding of food hygiene practices and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in handling techniques and safety rules for patient installation and mobilization.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients and their families.
- Commitment to maintaining equipment cleanliness as part of infection prevention measures.
- Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team environment.
- Capacity to recognize urgent care situations and alert the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Willingness to share professional knowledge with interns and new staff members.
