Lead Data Scientist

**Who are we looking for?**

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist who is keen to discover and implement new algorithms to help us scale our products.

To be successful as a Lead Data Scientist, you should have prior software development and big data experience, be able to collaborate with team members, be a strategic problem-solver and an inspiring big data visionary.

**The opportunity**

As a Data Scientist, you’ll be joining the R&D team.

Our stack runs on Google Cloud Platform. You will work in an environment made up of data lakes (BigQuery, etc.), data streaming platforms (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, etc.), orchestration and scheduling platforms (Airflow), modern deployment (Terraform), and management platforms (GCP, Fabric FAST).
You will participate in data modelling activities and design of data flows until their implementation and support in production.

**Your Role at Echo**

We’re currently scaling the Activity team and hiring talent to grow faster. The team is focused on extracting insights from data rather than advanced modelling. The team is composed of data engineers and data scientists so the lead should have advanced experience in both fields to sucessfully deliver the roadmap.

You will be responsible for:

- Improving existing algorithms and build new POC’s
- Work with geospatial data to create human mobility themated products
- Develop new features in collaboration with data engineers and data scientists.
- Manage data observability, scalability, transparency, and accuracy.
- Ensure data is clean, consistent and available. Perform data quality checks, build monitoring systems.
- Investigate, test, implement new tools, processes and technologies on an ongoing basis.
- Resolve complex problems coming from the data.

**What we’re looking for**:

- **Technical skills**:

- Strong computer science fundamentals and programming (Python)
- Comfortable working with the Google Cloud Platform stack or another cloud environment
- Strong knowledge of statistics, machine learning
- You are fluent with SQL and Python
- Demonstrated ability in executing R&D projects having data engineering and data science parts.
- Knowledge in : GitHub CI/CD, Terraform
- **Minimum Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in a technical field
- 5+ years of experience in ML industry
- 2+ years of experience of managing a team
- Demonstrated experience of putting ML models to production
- **Preferred Qualifications**:

- Work on operational research, and solving optimization problems with mathematical models
- Examples of work such as research papers, blog posts, Kaggle etc.
- Experience with geospatial data, time series
- Experience with Data flow, Data Processor, Airflow, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Spark, or other streaming technologies is a plus.
