We are looking to hire a **Principal Loads Assessment Engineer / Deputy Service Lead,** to join our team of specialists in a dynamic and growing company and leader in marine renewables.
**What you will be doing.**:
As our **Principal Loads Assessment Engineer / Deputy Service Lead,**you lead design-driving load assessments to ensure structural suitability for renewable projects, innovating tools and processes along the way. Manage technical teams, contribute to multi-disciplinary projects, and drive business growth through industry leadership. Be the face of OWC’s expertise, shaping our ambitious future in renewables. In addition you will:
- Provide expert advisory services and strategic guidance to clients, ensuring the delivery of optimal solutions to clients.
- Build and nurture client relationships, identify new business opportunities and leverage networks, develop client strategies and convert leads into contracts, and maintain CRM data.
- Lead complex proposals and/or contract negotiations, including those with third-party suppliers.
- Plan, manage and execute complex consulting projects across the full project lifecycle to ensure time, cost and quality parameters, whilst securing project target profitability.
- Analyse and interpret technical data with a critical eye, including environmental conditions, wind turbine characteristics and other client data; complete missing elements with relevant realistic data.
- Define and build realistic models (full system or part thereof) for aeroelastic software, based on client data. Validate their good behaviour through relevant testing schemes.
- Find ad hoc solutions to project-specific challenges not addressed in current methodologies.
- Prepare full list of load cases based on the project’s site-specific environmental data.
- Perform or supervise the efficient processing and post-processing of numerous simulations to extract design-driving loads; analyse the results to identify potential simulation issues or recommend design changes.
- Demonstrate the ability to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
- Share deep domain knowledge and expertise, identify opportunities for process improvements, competence development and innovation; proactively contribute to their development and implementation within OWC.
- Represent OWC and the offshore wind industry, remain current and act as an ambassador for the company in the offshore wind industry, build and maintain our reputation externally.
- Maintain thought leadership through publications, conferences and professional community engagement.
- Provide training and mentoring to OWC staff in technical, engineering and project management aspects (as relevant).
- Communicate relevant information effectively to team members and delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to approved policies, procedures and instructions. Lead and develop new processes and capabilities.
- Uphold consistently high standards of quality and technical excellence in all deliverables.
- Undertake approximately 65% chargeable work and 35% non-chargeable tasks which may include business development, proposals, internal projects and development/leadership of technical capability and staff.
The role is based in Nantes, France, and the incumbent will have the right to work and reside in France.
**What we are looking for.**:
We seek extensive expertise in load assessments, site-specific environmental analysis, and structural suitability evaluations. Proven experience in project management, technical leadership, and multi-disciplinary collaboration. A proactive industry leader with a drive for innovation and business growth. In addition, you have:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or STEM field with 8+ years in Integrated Loads Assessment or offshore industry experience.
- Deep expertise in offshore structures, wind turbine design, and aeroelastic simulation tools (e.g., Bladed, OrcaFlex, OpenFAST).
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, challenge stakeholders, and balance competing priorities effectively.
- Strong commercial acumen with business development expertise and an established client network.
