The Holding owns 3 manufacturing sites and employs has over 500 peoples:
- Focal’s dedicated cabinet-making facility: Bourbon-Lancy, France
- Focal’s manufacturing site : La Talaudière Saint-Étienne, France
- Naim’s manufacturing site: Wiltshire, United Kingdom
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Software Test
- Create and develop software test plans for the purpose of testing our products, resolving inconsistencies and issues without supervision. Liaise with Software Team to resolve.
- Create and develop, with internal and 3rd Party Software developers, test specifications. Test specifications will be reviewed by Software team.
- Manage the running and recording of these tests, proving compliance of software to specification, providing updates to R&D Test Manager for visibility.
- Support scripting and debugging of automation scripts in Python.
- Manage and delegate workloads with R&D Test Manager to the Software Test team and External test houses. Reporting back to the R&D Test Manager and Software Team with current schedules and concerns. This includes highlighting any test resource issues.
- Evaluate new strategies and tools to improve Software test process.
- Identify automation test opportunities.
- Planning and managing times for testing development cycles and regression times and feeding back to the R&D Test Manager and Project champions.
Production
- Liaise and co-ordinate with internal departments to produce coherent product releases in a timely fashion to agreed deadlines.
- Create programming environments for Naim production and ODM’s. This includes creating process instructions that are tailored for each environment.
External
- Interface to software and other teams including external third-party software houses to resolve issues and improve quality. Ensuring that the software releases are to agreed timescales.
- Manage meetings with Naim and 3rd Party staff to feedback requirements for Tools and strategies.
- Support Beta Forum releases when necessary.
Internal
- Assist Marketing/sales with technical support and planning of setup and demos at Hi-Fi shows and product launches when required.
- Support 8D investigation work by working with Naim departments and 3rd Party companies.
- Provide support for Technical Support team with customer issues and queries. Tracking all issues using OnTime and co-ordinating with Software team for releases.
- Organise training for Sales, Marketing and Technical support team to support requirements of understanding of Software releases and shows.
- Train junior test team members.
Compliance
- Support compliance requirements including working with third party test houses, including working with compliance hardware/software engineers.
- Support Non-SW certification requirements by providing instruction for 3rd party test houses.
- Liaise with Product Manager & Product Champion to ensure schedules are aligned with the Project Plan.
Your skills & requirements
- Degree qualified ideally in engineering discipline.
- ISTQB would be preferred but not essential.
- Well organised and able to work to tight deadlines - good time management;
- Flexible and proactive in approach to the role -positive attitude essential;
- Ability to work on own initiative;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Problem solving and analytical skills to identify the root cause and resolve performance blockages;
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Python.
Experience
- Proven track record in software testing environment.
- Commercial experience of software testing for consumer products is required.
- Proven experience of compliance programmes.
- Ability to do basic fault finding using ‘scope and DVM and basic test equipment and a logical fault finding mentality, and to report findings clearly.
- Use of standard software industry tools such as version control systems.
- Use of Wireshark for network trouble-shooting.
- Audio industry - recent active employment/internship in that field a further advantage.
Interest in high-end Hi-Fi products and knowledge of available technology and market would be beneficial.
