**Description**
In this internship, we propose to use a novel statistical-inference methods to infer interactions in a population of moving cells. Given a population of cells moving in two dimensions, cell-to-cell interactions may be mediated by the diffusion of a chemical compound in the medium, by mechanical deformations of the medium, or other physical phenomena. Overall, all these phenomena imply a finite, non-null propagation time—or delay—for the signal to reach the target cell. Given the tracking data for their time-course positions, this novel statistical-inference method allows to infer the delayed cell-to-cell interactions at multiple time scales, as well as the characteristic propagation time of the signal.
