Engineer in Health Control of Aerospace Structures

Among ONERA’s seven Scientific Departments, the Materials and Structures Department’s mission is to meet expectations, anticipate needs and provide its expertise to industrialists in the fields of aeronautics, defense and space in terms of materials and structures. The scientific activities of the Department range from the atom to the structure, and cover all types of aeronautical materials (metallic, composites, ceramics). The Department has approximately 120 permanent staff and around fifty doctoral students. Its research units are located on the sites of Châtillon, Palaiseau and Lille.
**Mission**:
In this context, you will take part in a European project centered on reusable technologies for space launchers and led by ARIANE GROUP. More specifically, your mission will consist of:
- Coordinate the activities of the SHM batch of the project, in collaboration with various French and European partners, and ensure regular reporting within the framework of meetings and progress reports;
- Participate in the deployment of SHM systems on the “launcher” scale and in the exploitation of data acquired during demonstration tests.
In addition to daily interactions with the unit’s research engineers, technicians and doctoral students, you will also exchange with experts in artificial intelligence and predictive modeling, whose activities aim to establish a digital twin of instrumented structures.
Throughout the duration of the project, your work may require you to make occasional trips, in France and in Europe.

**Profile**
- Engineer or Doctor who can prove successful experience in the field of integrated health control of structures;
- Strong skills in modeling thermomechanical phenomena;
- Knowledge of piezoelectric or fiber optic SHM sensors;
- An interest in data fusion approaches from different sensors and varied physics would be an undeniable asset;
- Essential taste for project management;
- Proficiency in English essential.
