- The main tasks will be:
Within the Institute, you will be a member of a team of 8 to 10 energy system modelers. You will contribute to the development, maintenance and use of our linear programming-based dispatch and unit commitment model of the EU power system, based on the Antares open-source framework. You are a source of proposals for researching and testing innovative modeling and data analysis techniques. You will contribute your knowledge of quantitative methods for data processing and analysis, optimization, scientific programming and economic analysis, in some of the following areas:
- Global economic analysis of the operational functioning and performance - costs, emissions - of the European power system (dispatching, supply/demand matching, security of supply, climate sensitivity, spatial balances, etc.).
- Flexibility of the European power system in the context of deep decarbonization: flexible hydrogen demand, electricity storage, flexible nuclear generation, demand-side management, etc...
- Sector integration from a power system perspective: Power-to-X, Power and Heat...
- Uncertainty modeling in an optimization framework
- Solving large-scale continuous, mixed and/or binary linear programs using state-of-the-art techniques (row/column generation; heuristics/meta-mechanistics).

You will be responsible for various actions in a project-oriented environment that will enable you to be proactive. You will report to the project manager and to the head of the energy systems modeling team at I-Tese.
The position is based in Saclay, but as the team is spread over two sites (mainly Saclay, and also Grenoble), you may be required to travel occasionally to Grenoble as needed.**ABOUT YOU **

You are graduated from a PhD ?You are specialized in Energy Economics, Energy Modelling or Operations research ?You have at least minimum 1 to 2 years of experience ?You are familiar with Quantitative modelling in energy and economics, preferably power systems ?You have a good knowledge of linear programming ; Understanding of economic theory, with a focus on microeconomic concepts of interest to energy systems modelling ?You are fluent in English ?-
