We are currently seeking an Internal Auditor to join our the HBCE Continental Europe Internal Audit (GIA CE) team in Paris. GIA CE is part of HSBC Global Internal Audit which provides independent, objective assurance to management and the audit committees as to whether the framework of risk and control management is well designed and effective.

GIA CE team is composed of 25 FTEs who cover the full scope of HSBC Continental Europe activities. Those activities include Global Markets, Securities Services, Global Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth and Private Banking (including Asset Management and Insurance) as well as HSBC Global Functions - Compliance, Digital and Business Services, Risk, Procurement etc.

Under the supervision of the Head of GIA CE, team members have a transversal view over the bank’s activities and regular contact with Senior Management in France as well as in other Continental Europe locations (Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Poland etc.). Moreover, as part of Group Internal Audit, GIA CE staff is in permanent contact with other Group Audit Teams and all work is documented exclusively in English. The team is based in Paris (La Défense) with a possibility for a hybrid working and international travel is limited.

Auditors that join GIA CE will have the opportunity to work on diverse audit topics over a large scope of entities and countries. Also, the auditor role gives then the opportunity to evolve in the role of Lead Auditor.

Main responsibilities of the role:

- Contributing to the delivery of audits through interviews and walkthroughs with Business/Functions stakeholders
- Evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of key controls through the performance of tests in line with the audit approach defined by the Lead Auditor
- Presenting audit conclusions to Senior Management and supporting the definition of sustainable and effective remediation plans
- Ensuring that audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the standards established by Global Internal Audit, industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment
- Providing specialist professional advice on audit findings and recommendations, ensuring timely follow-ups are performed until recommendations are implemented by management

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements: - Prior experience working in audit or assurance role, e.g. Internal / External Auditor, Risk Steward, Control Officer is preferable
- Solid understanding of the regulatory and risk environment
- Excellent verbal/written articulation skills in English and at least intermediary level of French
- Strong planning and organisational skills, goal-driven orientation aimed at delivering audits within the deadlines
- Inquisitive and analytical mind with strong auditing skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and within Global Internal Audit
- Strong analytic capability allowing to use data and insights to form conclusions and support decision making is desirable
