**Company Description**
The French Corrosion Institute (IC), consists of a team of 60 technicians, engineers and researchers, based across sites in Brest, St. Etienne, and Lyon. The IC's activities encompass analysis and diagnostics of all types of materials in industrial sectors affected by corrosion: automotive, aerospace, buildings, onshore and offshore infrastructures, energy, shipbuilding, chemical industry, and more. Major French and European industries are involved in the IC’s R&D activities in these fields (with over 50 ongoing R&D projects). The IC also participates in numerous European and international projects and conducts more fundamental research projects in close collaboration with academia.
**Job description**
In the framework of the development of its activities on water electrolysis [1], IC is looking for a **motivated** post-doctoral researcher**. The position is planned is located at the **Technopole of Brest, France** for a duration of **18 months** with a start in January/February 2025, or later upon agreement).

**Your tasks**:

- You assist the Electrochemistry R&D leader in the execution of a portfolio of internal, national and international projects in the field of low-temperature water electrolysis (PEM, AEM, seawater), such as PROTIS and UNICORN (among others).
- You carry out electrochemical investigations (EIS, chronoamperometry, galvanic coupling ) of corrosion resistance and durability of protective coatings for electrolyzer components (bipolar plates and porous transport layers). You characterize the coatings (developed at IC and/or received from partners) in pristine and post-mortem states with in-house tools (SEM, EDX/WDX, Raman, interfacial contact measurements). You develop external collaborations if more characterizations are needed.
- You report the results to the R&D leader and to the project partners.
- You disseminate the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and in international conferences.
- You help develop IC’s network of partners and customers in the fields of electrolysis and fuel cells.
- You also take charge of commissions from industrial customers involving electrochemical testing.

**Your profile**
- You hold a Ph.D. in electrochemistry, corrosion, thin films (coatings) or materials science.
- You have an interest in the energy transition, hydrogen technologies and the issues of durability.
- You have hands-on experience with electrochemical methods, notably impedance spectroscopy. Ideally, you possess a solid knowledge of corrosion processes. Experience in electrodeposition is a plus.
- You have strong analytical skills, you are able to work autonomously in the lab (e.g. build new test benches, developing novel experiments). You enjoy interacting with scientists of different backgrounds.
- You are rigorous, organized and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
- You are able to collaborate/discuss/negotiate with both academic and industrial partners.
- A good command of English (spoken, written, read) is essential. Knowledge of French is a plus for a smoother integration in the Institute.
- You are goal-oriented and dedicated to your tasks
- Experience in PEM/AEM electrolysis/fuel cells is a plus, yet not compulsory.
- Experience in project management is a plus, yet not compulsory
