**Job Summary**
**JOB TITLE**: Handyman / Houseman
**LOCATION**: Paris, France
**CONTRACT TYPE**: Full-Time, Permanent
**SALARY**: €40,000 - €60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience
**WORKING HOURS**: Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (40 hours per week), with flexibility required during evenings and weekends based on the family’s presence
**TRAVEL**: Occasional travel within France and internationally may be required
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure full upkeep and maintenance of the residence, including minor repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Carry out handyman duties such as painting, small carpentry tasks, basic plumbing, and alarm management
- Oversee the care and maintenance of valuable objects and artworks, ensuring correct handling at all times
- Assist with technical evaluations and liaise with external contractors, including obtaining and reviewing repair quotes
- Greet and manage deliveries and guests, ensuring adherence to safety and security protocols
- Run errands, including grocery shopping and ad hoc purchases for the household
- Prepare and serve breakfast in the absence of the designated staff member
- Provide occasional service support during receptions or informal gatherings
- Drive family members or guests when required
- Provide basic administrative and IT assistance, as needed
- Follow instructions from the General Intendant and maintain clear, ongoing communication
- Collaborate with the wider household team in a respectful, efficient, and adaptable manner
- Work in rotation with the existing staff, ensuring full coverage during periods of high activity or absence
- Maintain the highest levels of discretion, confidentiality, hygiene, and professionalism at all times
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within private households in a similar maintenance or houseman capacity
- Possesses excellent practical skills and a hands-on approach to property care and problem solving
- Is confident handling high-value items, including art and antiques
- Is highly organised, responsive, and able to manage tasks proactively
- Demonstrates flexibility, energy, and a calm demeanour, even under pressure
- Works well independently but thrives in a collaborative team environment
- Is discreet, trustworthy, and fully respectful of privacy and confidentiality
- Speaks fluent French and has excellent communication skills
- Holds a valid category B driving licence and is confident driving in Paris
- Has a clean criminal record (dated within the past 3 months)
