The position is located within the Digital Technologies Department, part of the Process Research Lab in the Maizieres Campus, the largest research center of ArcelorMittal Global R&D. The Digital Technologies department is composed of more than 30 people (researchers, engineers, technicians, PhD, trainees ) and aims to develop and deploy advanced solutions for both process monitoring and product quality control in production plants. The range of technologies used is broad and includes sensors, automatism, models, and data science. The activities of the department are deeply involved in the digitalization of manufacturing processes (industry 4.0), in the creation of the new decarbonization routes of ArcelorMittal, while providing solutions for our factories worldwide.

**Your role**:
In the framework of digitalization, plants seek to further automate manual tasks, particularly when a quality control is required.

Within ArcelorMittal, the Digital Technologies Department is known to develop innovative systems based on vision to build such dedicated solution.
The research engineer will work with a team of researchers and participate in various vision hardware and software research activities, with the responsibility to:

- Install the vision system (including wiring and IT connectivity) at the required location which could be either on laboratory test bench, on a pilot facility at Maizières or inside one of the ArcelorMittal production sites in collaboration with the local teams.
- Develop the image processing backbone to extract and compute relevant information.
- Manage different projects: define the project goals and stakes with stakeholders, ensure the proper management of milestones and deliverables, establish plannings and organize meetings, write regular reports and documents.
- Provide technical support to the plants or to other teams in R&D by analyzing the needs and providing advice and expertise.
- Conduct a continuous technical watch, evaluate supplier offers, review specific patents when required, participate to conference and workshops.
- Propose new solutions based on vision systems aligned with the team roadmap and ArcelorMittal strategy.

**Your profile**

Master degree / Engineer degree in **vision systems hardware and image processin**g with:

- Knowledge of IT frameworks and communication protocols
- Skills in project management
- Strong ability to work in a team
- Experience in conducting laboratory experiments as well as trials in industrial plants
- Advanced level in French and English
- Knowledge / Experience in vision system setup and acquisition (1D, 2D and 3D)
- Knowledge / Experience in image/video processing with a programming language such as C++ and Python
- Basic knowledge of usual deep learning architectures (VGG, YoLo, ResNet, ViT...) and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch) would be a bonus
- Knowledge / Experience in IT systems (frameworks and protocols)
- Innovative, curious and results oriented
- Excellent social skills to work in project teams within a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to travel worldwide
