Orr Senior Manager Wholesale Oversight

Drafting, presenting, and supporting opinion papers on OR and RR topics to governance committees.
- Completing analytical assessments and opining on the control environment of the 1LOD within HBCE
- Oversight of emerging risks, strategic business initiatives and local change activity and new/materially changed products
- Implementation of a Risk Management Framework (RMF) that sets out governance, policies and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure and report on, mitigate and control operational risk exposures associated with HSBC’s businesses and operations at all levels of the organisation.
- Assessing compliance with Group policies and risk appetite.
- Ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interests of our clients, and that delivery of Wholesale Businesses products and services are operationally resilient.

Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
- Supports implementation of the OR and RR frameworks globally, including Risk Strategy, Risk Appetite, Risk Taxonomy and Risk Control Library strategy, and policy frameworks, such that they support safe growth in Wholesale Businesses.
- Ensures that Wholesale Businesses complies with policies so that its business operations, products, and services are within risk appetite.
- Constructive, actionable challenge is made to Wholesale Businesses in a manner that understands business initiatives, priorities, and processes.
- Embed the use of the management of NFRs as a core decision tool for Wholesale Businesses.
- Analyse and make determinations on the risk profile of Wholesale Businesses and their risks are outside appetite, ensure the business is taking steps to mitigate the risk.
- Makes management of RRs meaningful for Wholesale Businesses and continually influences the business to adopt Operationally Resilient thinking & processes.
- Support ad-hoc project work and investigations to provide further analysis into process control failings as required.

- Timely delivery of high quality advice and guidance to Wholesale Businesses teams.
- Insightful, actionable, and accessible opinion papers delivered both within ORR and to Wholesale Businesses.
- Timely identification, management, and where required escalation, of policy deviations to both Wholesale Businesses.
- Oversight and management of the risk and control profiles without Risk Management Framework deviations.

- Influence and direct management within Wholesale Businesses to fulfil roles and responsibilities and manage NFRs according to the Group’s frameworks and within stated appetite
- Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets

Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Support the continuing development or transformation of OR and RR operating model to ensure operational and resilience risk operates increasingly effectively and efficiently and is able to deliver HSBC's strategic goals
- Ensure that NFR appetite measures align to the Strategic Business Outlook
- Partner with business Leads across 1LoD in HBCE to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report resilience risks
- Ensure key non-financial risk reports adhere to requirements of Enterprise Risk Framework and escalation routes operate for top and emerging non-financial risks to reach appropriate Risk Management Meetings
- Keep abreast of industry and regulatory developments in non-financial risk management and continually assess the impact these might have on the firm.

- Early reporting/escalation of resilience risks/issues
- Evidence of assisting 1LOD teams to identify and mitigate significant risks
- Tracking of action plans included in quarterly progress reports. Timely resolution of overdue items.
