Marine Biology Instructor

CIEE Nice is seeking a passionate Marine Biology Instructor for its 2026 High School Summer Abroad programs. These immersive programs combine academic learning with field experiences and intercultural engagement for U.S. high school students (ages 14-18).

**Program Overview**
- **Location**: Nice, France
- **Dates**:Summer 2026(2 sessions x 3 weeks each, starting on June 16th)
- **Instructional load**: 45+ hours per session (mainly field-based)
- **Pre-program training**: ~10 hours online, April-May

Students explore the ecology of Mediterranean coastal and marine ecosystems, including coastal zones, rocky shores, seagrass meadows, and nearshore habitats. Through hands-on activities, field research, and conservation-focused projects, students:

- Conduct ecosystem assessments and species censuses
- Observe and document marine environments
- Analyze human impacts such as climate change, urbanization, tourism, and pollution
- Connect environmental science to local culture and practices

**Role Responsibilities**
- Lead engaging, topic-based instruction in marine biology
- Design and implement daily lesson plans
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with CIEE Center staff and Program Leaders to ensure a safe and high-quality experience
- Support immersive, field-based learning and hands-on projects

Experience of teaching or mentoring young adults (classroom or field-based)

Proficiency in English

Background in biology, preferably marine biology

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Open to applicants from diverse backgrounds, including university students, recent graduates, and experienced professionals.
