Oxford Instruments SAS, Asylum Research, the technology leader in Atomic Force and Scanning Probe Microscopy (AFM / SPM) is seeking an experienced Applications Scientist to join our Europe Team in France (Les Ulis, Paris region). With a solid academic background in physical or biological sciences, and/or extensive work experience in atomic force microscopy, you will be joining a dynamic and innovative team of professionals and will be working at the nanotechnology instrumentation forefront.
The Role
Perform AFM demonstrations focused on the research interests and needs of prospective customers while staying in close alignment with the responsible salesperson.
Compile and present convincing demonstration reports, which aim to aid the sales process.
Provide sales with pre and post demo support.
Assist and advise the sales team on technical and scientific matters.
Train customers on instrument operation and support method development.
Engineering or science degree (biology, materials science, physics, or equivalent field) and/or extensive work experience in atomic force microscopy. Preferably a PhD.
Experience and extensive knowledge on the theory and operation of AFMs.
2+ year experience in the analytical environment as scientist.
Strong technical background and the ability to draw from this when interacting with customers, designing experiments, or troubleshooting.
Strong ability to read and understand customer needs and problems with the ability to find and highlight solutions.
Good all-round communication skills.
Strong ability to quickly gauge the experience and technical level of the customer/ prospect and support/train at the best level to match.
Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to write clearly and effectively.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise, plan, focus, and bring projects to completion within deadlines.
Some teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
Proficiency in English and French highly desired.
Driving licence
Be prepared to travel worldwide
