Role Overview

Your position will be on the industrial Solvay site in Tavaux, France within the process engineering group working on different production units including batch and continuous processes.

Your main missions, under the responsibility of the site process manager, will be:
**Industrialization**
- Design a process and / or a production unit starting from:

- Test data from the laboratory
- Pilot units results
- Knowledge / study of existing site production units or industrial tests
- Data interpretation/analyses and process modelisation to be carried out in close collaboration with R&D and process specialists
- Conduct simple process simulations and unit operations calculations in order to provide process documentation (energy and material balances, P&ID, equipment and instrumentation specifications) related to a new process in collaboration with group specialists.
- Integrate all of the process safety constraints and take part to risk analysis
- Follow up detailed engineering phase and start-up activities to ensure technical success

**Improvement / Optimization**:

- Contribute to improving the performance of existing installations in close collaboration with the production team.
- Identify and introduce new processes and technologies to improve the competitiveness of production units and, in this context, initiate cost estimate studies and follow up implementation studies.
- Define and manage, in collaboration with the manufacturing team, trials (capacity, new products, etc.) on production units.
- Participate as the process expert in the risk analysis and contribute to studies and projects for HSE compliance.
- Lead projects to improve the environmental footprint of the production units (water intake reduction projects, energy consumption reduction projects, waste production reduction projects, waste valorisation projects, circular economy projects )
- Experience of at least 3 years in the chemical / petrochemical industry, preferably in a production plant
- A specialization or experience in environmental projects (treatment of liquid & gas wastes, optimisation of energy / water consumption) would be appreciated.
- Good academic and practical knowledge in the field of unit operations (distillation, separation, heat exchange, etc.), equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.), associated with a strong enthusiasm for dealing with often complex problems and a strong motivation for technical challenges.
- Modeling skills (ASPEN) not mandatory.
- Motivated by process development and optimization.
- Autonomous, capable of working inside a multidisciplinary team with good communication skills.
- Capacity for analysis, innovation and results oriented
- Fluency in English is imperative
- The position could offer future opportunities for partial or full international mobility (China, Italy, USA mainly)
