Role & work environment

Within ‘Finance’, the cost management team is part of the CoE Cost Management and Advice, which is managing the end-to-end cost chain of the bank (from Request to pay to forecasting).

The team consists of 20 members in Brussels. Furthermore, we receive support from our Hub in The Philippines. We work in a hybrid setup: 50% working from home and 50% at the office.

The team manages the entire operational and accounting process related to the general expenses of the bank : request management process, accounts payable (incoming invoice), accounts receivable (outgoing invoices), fixed assets, cost and tax accounting.

A day in the life of a Finance Accounting and Reporting expert

As Finance Accounting and Reporting Expert, you will be supporting the closing activities related to costs and tax accounting, including amongst others:

- “Run” the monthly closing process that requires that all costs and tax are properly recorded in our ledger
- Prepare sign-offs, explain trends and perform (technical) reviews
- Perform Ad hoc analysis / in-depth analytical reviews based on requests from both internal and external stakeholders (internal/ external audit, ORM, regulators, ING Group Finance, etc.)
- Monitor pro-actively continuous improvements in data and processes and implement changes
- Maintain and improve the internal Finance control framework.

As a Financial Accounting & reporting Expert, you will have the opportunity to:

- Be the main interlocutor of our tax colleagues in the domain of Corporate income tax, client taxes, regulatory costs and VAT

- Hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or equal via experience and possess good to strong accounting knowledge (BE Gaap & IFRS), with an interest in in tax matters
- Ensure the established processes are followed meticulously and executed correctly
- Capable of evaluating cost evolutions effectively
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel)
- Demonstrate a rigorous approach, a steep learning curve, and the ability to anticipate and adapt to new situations
- Able to meet strict deadlines, manage stress, and remain flexible when needed
- Well-structured and highly organized in his/her approach to work
- Proficient in English, and/or Dutch or French
