We design, develop, deploy and operate one of the largest enterprise search systems in the world, and growing, with billions of backend queries per week on trillions of records. Salesforce Search Platform is based on SolrCloud and leverages a combination of on-premise technologies inside Salesforce Data Centers and public cloud computing to provide Search as a service to other Salesforce organizations and customers. The massive scale of operations, the constant growth in traffic, and the mission-critical nature of Search are pushing the team to tackle very interesting and complex technical challenges around availability, performance, reliability, scalability, and security.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Understanding of Distributed Storage & Computing Systems
- Building cloud-scale products with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and security.
- Owning the products and driving them end to end, all the way from gathering requirements, development, testing, and deployment to ensuring high availability post-deployment in production.
- Ensuring the consistency of designs of features and components for high availability, reliability, security, and scale
- Engaging with stakeholders across teams to derive clarity from a decent level of ambiguity and break down complex tech problems to value-oriented deliverables
- Leading the design and development of architectures for various products and/or processes
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Helping evolve engineering practices & principles that marry the flexibility of open source and fast pace of service world
- Coaching junior developers and help them grow

**Experience and Skills**:

- Minimum 7 years of development & design experience; design, implementation, and operation
- Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages with a preference for Java
- Proficiency in Distributed systems, Scalability engineering, Distributed Storage, SaaS softwares, public cloud technologies
- Experience with low latency backend services
- Experience working with search stack such as Solr or ElasticSearch is a plus, not a must
- Experience in operating global scale systems with high availability (99.99%)
- Sharp Analytical abilities, Problem-solving, Learning mindset, Excellent communication skills
- Practitioner of Openness, Empathy, Trust, Mentorship, Inclusive Collaboration and Focus on Customer Success
- Relevant Work Experience required
