**About the role**: Your role is to carry out a Post doc work on: "Assessment and minimization of environmental impacts on the life cycle of a Wifi network" within the framework of the FACTO project, selected under a call for projects from the ANR (National Research Agency) The number of smart homes is rapidly increasing around the world with an increasing amount of computing devices using wireless networks. With the diversity of these devices comes the development of multiple wireless protocols and technologies that aim to connect them. However, these technologies offer overlapping functionality, and this oversizing is very suboptimal from an energy perspective, with energy efficiency being a first step towards sustainable smart homes. Thus, in the FACTO project, we propose to design a versatile network based on a single optimized technology (namely IEEE 802.11be, the future Wi-Fi 7), in order to offer energy-efficient, adaptable and integrated connectivity to all connected home devices. **Scientific objective - results and obstacles to overcome**: The objective of this post-doc is to assess and reduce the environmental impacts of a home network. This study will go beyond the electricity consumption of the network and will take into account the other life cycle phases, it will highlight the multiple impacts, beyond the energy consumption and the associated GHG emissions. The study will make it possible to recommend solutions for the architecture of WIFI home networks, depending on the environments, uses, countries, etc. The main current scientific obstacles are linked to the lack of knowledge of the environmental impacts associated with WIFI components, the lack of knowledge of the environmental impacts associated with radio networks and the rapid evolution of WIFI standards as well as the associated electronic components. **About you**: Skills and personal qualities required by the position - Mastery of the principles of environmental impact analysis (ACV) - Knowledge of electronic component production processes Required training : PhD Desired experiences: - Experience in impact studies of digital services would be desirable. - Radio, wifi and protocol communication skills would be desired. - Knowledge of EIME LCA tools would be welcome. **Additional information**: This study is part of the FACTO cooperative ANR project. As part of this study, you will have access to an environment for modeling and testing WIFI networks, access to tools and data bases for impact modeling.
