We have a great opportunity to join a growing team as a Development Engineer reporting to the EMEA Technical Centre - Project & Team leader. This role is based in Bernin, France and is part of a wider European Semiconductor team at Edwards, part of the Atlas Copco Group.

**Mission***

The role of the Development Engineer is to provide / Define professional engineering skills for the systemization of Edwards Products.

Developing design improvements, quality improvement, cost reduction, enhanced functionality & reliability, engineering change and providing support to install team on day to day issues.

**Main Responsibilities***
- Create design solutions to enable function, operation or performance for semiconductor products, in compliance with internal standards, and local, national, and international safety standards
- Design solutions to meet cost targets, customer requirements, account team strategy and Technical authority approval (PSCL)
- Encourage innovation
- Collaborate effectively with other functions to deliver on time commitments
- Create sub-system design specifications to meet system level specifications
- Develop research solutions that meet specification requirements
- Define non standard test addendum, P&ID, electrical drawing and supporting documentation required to enable best in class installation and ensuring all safety aspect have been considered and checked

**Skills / Knowledge / Experience**

**Experience**:

- Ideally 5 years industrial experience in a related field
- Technical expertise, combining mechanical & electrical
- Experience in the Semiconductor Industry will be beneficial
- Electrical design, controls, and power distribution

**Skills / Knowledge**:

- 3D and 2D design Investigate and solve design issues, fault finding
- Engineering hand calculations
- Confirm initial design risk assessments
- Define risk mitigations by formal risk management methods
- Create and assign work packages with accurate effort estimation
- Confirm design costs for material, labour, overhead contributions Formal Design to Cost Assessments
- Approval of final Bill of Materials for release
- Approve test schedules and resulting reports
- Approve final alpha or beta machine builds to specification
- Confirm or create theoretical performance calculations of electromechanical assemblies

Undertake operation of electromechanical assemblies to specification, operation of equipment

Empirical verification of performance of electromechanical assemblies to specification

Technical report writing

Machinery Directive, EN12100, EN13849, EN61502

EMC directive, EN61326

Low Voltage Directive, EN/UL61010, EN60204,

Create Piping and instrumentation diagrams

Create controls functional specifications

Create Value Added and Value Engineering models for cost improvements

**Scope**

The Development Engineer is working in the EMEA Technical support Team, reporting to the EMEA Technical Centre - Project & Team leader.

The main mission of the Development engineer is to provide engineering specification to support:
New system customization (support to the Sales team)

Customization of a new equipment to match customer requirements

Chamber addition to an existing tool

Field change Request (support to the service team)

Technical issues requiring modification to an equipment

Test of Pre-Released product

Support to obsolescence

CIPs (continuous improvement program) implementations

Creation of upgrade kit package (support to the business development manager)

Extension to a “targeted system” upgrade kit to an extended scope within EMEA

Enhance communication of legacy equipment with the supervision to support the business transformation program
