Your Role & Key Responsibilities

The legal team of Elida Beauty is growing. We are looking for a Associate General Counsel, Continental Europe to join our team and work with some of the world’s best known and loved brands in Beauty and Personal care. The role reports into the Elida Beauty General Counsel

The role will involve giving advice to the business on a broad range of legal matters relating to the development, marketing and sale of Elida Beauty products and brands in France. With a strong focus on competition law, the role also covers all areas of commercial law, including drafting and negotiating of contracts, distribution, e-commerce, terms of trade, marketing and advertising law, intellectual property law, privacy, regulatory and compliance matters.

The Legal Team plays an integral part in the business’ risk control processes and works closely with all business functions within Elida Beauty (Finance, R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, HR) as well as colleagues in Unilever (Legal, Tax, Regulatory, Business Integrity and Data Protection). We aim to protect the business and enable it to win - success to us means striking this balance for the benefit of Elida Beauty.

Elida Beauty’s Continental Europe business is headquartered in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris, France. n our Elida Beauty offices we work on a hybrid basis. We do have regular meetings and office ‘days’ and our minimum expectation is 2 days in the office and all our employees must be able to attend office based events and meetings within 24 hours notice. This is at your line manager’s discretion and specific arrangements can be made if they meet business requirements and do not interfere with your ability to deliver the requirements of this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the General Counsel with the establishment of Elida Beauty as stand-alone business within Unilever’s Personal Care business group.
- Work with members of the Continental Europe leadership team to develop and implement legal strategies, which will enable the growth of the business and effectively manage legal risks.
- Work with key stakeholders (including the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, North America, Unilever competition counsel and external providers) to identify competition risks affecting the organization and develop and maintain an Elida Beauty Global Antitrust Compliance Program, including developing and maintaining best in class policies, delivering risk-based training and providing sound legal advice to key business stakeholders.
- Provide leadership in connection with litigation, audits and investigations in antitrust matters.
- Provide legal advice and commercial risk analysis to the French marketing and R&D teams on legality and support for regional product claims and marketing materials in line with all relevant local legal and regulatory laws and guidelines governing the cosmetics industry.
- Coordinate and defend, in accordance with the business strategy and with support from the Associate General Counsel, North America and relevant external providers, out-going and in-coming regional competitive challenges in respect of product claims.
- Provide strategic business advice on regional initiatives and material agreements with customers and suppliers.
- Advise regional sales team in connection with relationships with customers, including the implementation of agreements, trade terms and pricing.
- Advise on matters concerning intellectual property (including brand protection and licensing), data privacy, business integrity and other compliance risks for the Continental Europe business.
- Manage ad hoc regional litigation.
- Provide relevant and up to date internal training to the business as part of Elida Beauty’s overall compliance framework.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of globally aligned governance, business processes and corporate policies and guidelines.
