Packaging Machinery Subject Matter Expert

**Description**:
The Packaging Machinery Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports the implementation of plant improvement opportunities for packaging facilities globally.

Actively participates with Area Business Teams, Regional Technology Leader, and Packaging Machinery Discipline Technology Lead to support development of Business and Area Resource Plans for internal manufacturing assets.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Uses consistent global performance metrics such as Master Performance Schedule (MPS), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), asset capability and conversion cost to understand product and facility performance.
- Collaborates with Area Business Teams, Regional technology Leader, Packaging Machinery Discipline Technology Lead to develop packaging asset improvement strategies in alignment with F&P global and regional strategies.
- Provides coaching and direction on Packaging Technology to plant operators, Area Business Teams and specialists.
- Supports capital project teams within regional area of responsibility by fulfilling the relevant technology roles in capital project front-end loading and execution, and by providing equipment design recommendations to those teams.
- Supports new packaging line start-ups
- Leverages packaging machinery expertise to close identified gaps where they exist, and works with the F&P Packaging Machinery Discipline Technology Lead to define solutions where Most Effective Technology (MET) is missing.
- Acts as a second-level escalation resource to resolve technology-related Packaging Machinery operational, quality and reliability issues that the plants cannot resolve themselves
- Proactively seeks new technology to ensure that packaging technology is best in class.
- Assists in managing Asset Utilization and project budgets.
- Provides data to validate that projects deliver performance objectives after implementation.
- Participate in plant MOC process, and assures that proper technical input is obtained for MOC approvals.

**Key Interactions with other roles.**
- Improvement Engineer/Performance Engineer - Collaborates with these roles to update Area Resource Plans
- Plant Production Leader - supports the Plant Production Leader and other operations personnel in the creation of the Area Resource Plan
- Other project /Tech roles / functions - The Packaging Machinery SME role interfaces with other specialist functions (e.g. Process Control, Process Engineering, Project Manager Etc.) as needed to support specific improvement initiatives or projects.

**Functional Alignment**:

- This role reports to the F&P Global Technology Leader.
- The role may receive functional guidance from the relevant Regional Technology Leader, Supply Team Leader or Capital Execution Project Manager.

**Qualifications**:

- BS in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or similar discipline with 10+ yrs experience
- Experience in capital project execution and/or project management
- Six Sigma certification and Lean Manufacturing experience a strong asset
- Familiarity with Corteva AgriSciences work processes is desirable

**Skills needed for success**:

- Expertise in Corteva AgriSciences and external packaging technology is essential
- Expertise in analysing data and agreeing on actionable, prioritized opportunity list with commercial and functional stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively across functions, cultures and time zones.
