**The Role**:
Aligned with the Ermitage International IB School Mission, Vision, and Goals, and in line with the IB philosophy, the Science Lab Technician supports the Science Department to ensure effective and safe delivery of practical science lessons, contributing to exceptional learning outcomes for students. The Science Lab Technician reports to the Head of Sciences Department and collaborates closely with science teachers and students, with colleagues at the IB School and Collège.
**The Responsibilities**:
The key responsibilities of the Science Lab Technician are:
- Lab Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, materials, and experiments according to the teachers’ requirements, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all laboratory practices comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.
- Resource Management: Manage and organise laboratory resources, including chemicals, tools, and equipment, maintaining accurate inventories and ordering supplies as needed.
- Support During Lessons: Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions, providing technical support and guidance to enhance the learning experience; and providing Science teacher cover where needed.
- Equipment Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment, arranging for external repairs when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of experiments, safety checks, and inventory levels, ensuring all documentation meets national, school and IB standards.

**Required**:
- Full understanding of and commitment to lab health and safety in relation to school and national standards
- Experience in lab preparation and equipment maintenance
- Accurate record-keeping
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks
- Strong professional and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate in English and French
- Interest in working in an international school setting and with secondary school-age students
**Desirable**:
- Experience of working in a school
- Interest in the opportunity to develop teaching skills within the Science Department
