Post Doc

**About the role**: There are today many experiments related to Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), especially around Paris and the Nice region in France. Those experiments only relate to key exchange, and the use of this quantum key to secure a sensitive message is generally done in a somewhat simplistic way. In this context, the overall objective of the post doc is to evaluate the security and efficiency of a security protocol integrating a quantum key distribution and any additional useful cryptographic mechanism. More precisely, the post doc will first have to work on a complete security model in the quantum setting, for a protocol including a key exchange and the authenticated encryption of a message. The post doc will also have to provide a complete analysis of the security of different protocols implying quantum key distribution and authenticated encryption, in order to compare them with each other. Finally, the post doc will work on the implementation of several solutions for quantum key distribution and authenticated encryption in the context of existing internal projects, and in particular in the case where more than two nodes participate in the secure exchange of keys and messages. Indeed, to date there is no security proof for a complete cryptographic protocol integrating quantum key distribution. Similarly, there is no formal comparison between the different solutions that may exist for key exchange and authenticated encryption, especially when taking into account quantum key distributiuon and in the special case of several actors (more than two) participating in secure exchanges. Finally, no study comparing the different practical implementations of a quantum key distribution solution has been carried out so far. **About you**: Knowledge of the quantum key distribution mechanism would be very relevant, in order to enter very quickly into the issues specific to this post doc, and thus being able to better address the hard points relating to security proofs, and practical implementations combining quantum key distribution and more classical cryptographic mechanisms. Implementation skills could be a plus, so that the post-doct is perfectly autonomous in the task assigned to him. **Additional information**: This post doct will be carried out in a large international group in the field of telecommunications. Eventually, the post doc will also be integrated into the Université Côte d'Azur research team working on quantum key distribution.
