We are a team of 100+ collaborators (underwriters, climate & agri experts, and tech & data experts), spread over the 5 continents and we are all driven by the same focus on impact, leveraging the full AXA ecosystem. ✨ **Your job as Senior Underwriter** As part of AXA Climate Insurance team, this Senior Underwriter position is a new mission within the underwriting family, to secure the execution of large (line size) & complex deals. In the details, here is the main challenge and missions you will be accountable of; **De-risk 3 challenges with large (line size) & complex deals**: - Deal acceleration driven by the general acceleration of our business. - Need to secure Portfolio Quality Focus, driven the increased underwriting autonomy delegated to AXA Climate (AXA Climate being seen as a business unit by itself). - Need to enhance Underwriting know-how, in the context of a more developed & competitive (parametric) market, where the underwriting team needs additional know-how to complement juniority and go beyond pure pricing focus. **Create the Senior Underwriter structuring mission**: - In coordination with pipeline leaders, the senior Underwriter will support the deal leaders in the execution of ALL their deal with gross limit > 10m€. In particular, she / he: - Evaluates and challenges the proposed deal structures (i.e. ensures identifying & addressing the client pain points, appropriate structuring, proposes alternative solutions, differentiating AXA Climate from the market, solves complex UW topics, balances attractive / high quality solutions for the client, filters-out not attractive deal opportunities and structures...) - Optimizes capacity usage and portfolio risk profile (portfolio management). - Manages complex legal set-up including fronting and individual reinsurance arrangements (Fac / ILS). - Manages internal stakeholders (i.e. referral to the risk carrier | GUC). - She / He provides knowledge management | Training to the SB Insurance for collective improvement purposes. In particular, she / he: - Coaches and develops team members - Builds understanding of (Parametric vs. Traditional) Market Dynamics. **NB: for the avoidance of doubt**: - It is not a pricing support (the pricing is not the issue here). - It is about increasing the underwriting quality and execution for large (line size) and complex deals (making deals happen). - Accountabilities: - The deal leader has a P&L accountability and manages the broker/client relationship. - The senior underwriting has technical accountability on the structure and on the deal execution involving necessary key stakeholders. - Working together: - the senior underwriting provides technical support to the deal leader, and does not become a deal leader. - in case of conflict between the deal leader and the senior underwriting regarding the underwriting approach, the deal is referred to the AXA Climate Underwriting Committee for decision making purposes (Chair: CUO). **// Expected outcomes of this new mission**: - Increased efficiency within the underwriting team, with: - A quicker time to market for large (line size) & complex deals. - Better service to the clients, offering cutting edge solutions (differentiating AXA Climate from the competitors). - An increased number of larger deals with a Fac / ILS leverage. - Increased underwriting excellence for large deals (best technical decisions) for the benefits of: - Our portfolio risk profile. - Our relationships with the risk carriers (vs the challenge of their controls & audits). - Enhancement of the seniority of the underwriting team. **Votre profil**: **About you** - Senior Underwriting & Structuring skills with strong technical focus - previous experience of Property & Property Cat and/or Parametric Underwriting and/or D&F underwriting and/or Specialty Underwriting, etc. - Ability to manage complex & large accounts for bespoke deals with large corporate clients or public entities - Manage multiple stakeholder interests. - Ability to deal with complex legal set-up related to MGAs - Solid decision-making skills, need to make important decisions regarding new bus
