Research Engineer

Saint-Gobain Abrasives R&D team is looking for a motivated Research Engineer for Coated Abrasives. Your responsibilities will include:

- Manages and leads product development projects in the area of Coated Abrasives to support business growth
- Collaborates well cross-functionally (including: industrial, product management, purchasing teams) to define and validate business cases and technical approaches to meet project objectives
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously
- Clearly defines the associated tasks and milestones for each project under his/her supervision, proposes technical approaches, cost estimates, and timelines
- Solve complex technical problem by combining literature search, scientific knowledge, hands-on experiments and plant trials
- Collaborates with plant managers and production managers to industrialize new products and support process improvements.
- Utilizes broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance and/or reduce costs within a major product area.
- Ensures that intellectual property is captured and protected through proper procedures as well as generates new IP through innovation.
- Maintain awareness of competitive IP positioning and understand strategic relevance.
- Collaborate with global team on new developments and new technologies.
- Identify, evaluate and integrate novel analysis techniques.
- Specify and implement new equipment and capabilities.

**Ce poste est-il fait pour vous ?** Required Skills**:

- A PhD degree in a scientific discipline from an accredited college/university OR an MSc and 3+ years of experience (preferably in an industrial setting).
- Proven project management experience.
- An inquiring mind, intense curiosity, and strong desire to innovate in abrasives device field.
- Proven experience as a project leader with good supervisory and teamwork skills in a fast faced and challenging environment.
- Proven ability to think critically, and organize tasks autonomously on assigned projects, and establish viable technical paths forward.
- Demonstrate open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
- Leadership competencies and willingness to grow as a leader.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of management, customers, colleagues, and external partners.
- Understanding of Gate Process methodology/ideology and utilization and incorporation in projects.
- Familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation, IP, Patents, and technical documents.
- Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
