**Alfalfa breeder for temperate climates**

**Location: Les Alleuds, France (Angers region)**

**Introduction**

**Responsibilities**
- Design and implement breeding programs to devlop alfalfa varieties for the different marekte segments of the temperate markets.
- Organize and conduct field trials to evaluate breeding populations for agronomic performances under a range of pedoclimatic conditions.
- Organize and conduct lab tests for pest and disease screening
- Manage seed inventory and ensure accurate tracking of breeding material
- Record observations and analyse data to identify desirable traits and select superior germplasm for further development
- Collaborate with other breeders, geneticists, agronomists, forage quality specialists and Researchers to optimize breeding strategies and align breeding goals with market demands
- Stay-up-to-date on the latest Reserach and technology development and participate in collaborative reserach projects to further develop knowledge and expertise.
- Supervising the activity of a small team of breeding technicians and assistant breeders, in collaboration with station managers and senior breeders

**Qualifications**
- PhD or MSc in plant breeding, plant genetics or closely related field, a minimum of three year of professional experience in breeding, preferably in a seed company and on a field crop
- Strong knowledge of plant breeding and statistics. Experience in field trials design, data collection and statistical analysis. Familiarity with molecular markers and enomic technologies
- Ability to operate and collaborate in a small local team as well as within an international R&D structure
- Proficient in French (daily work language) and English languages, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
