Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

The role is in the Continental Europe Strategic Planning & Stress Testing (SP&ST) team. The purpose of the team is to work closely with the Continental Europe CEO and CFO, providing them with insightful financials to support strategic decision making and drive better business performance within the entity.
The role holder will have a broad range of responsibilities with a strong focus on internal and external reporting as follows:

Helping the Insight and Analysis manager to analyse the Return on Tangible Equity for our key legal entities and businesses, drilling into movements to explain fluctuations in RoTE and preparing analysis to support discussions to improve business performance. Assisting in the assessment of financial metrics under stress and downside scenarios and the identification of drivers to improve business performance.
3. A key focus for the team is to support the restructuring programme for Continental Europe, including providing forward-looking analysis to track the potential outcome of the programme (e.g. RoTE analysis). The role holder will play a key role in developing the MI needed to analyse and report on the impact of the restructuring, helping the Head of SP&ST and Insight and Analysis manager to design and implement the MI.
4. The team works closely with Strategy, providing input into papers and presentations for Europe Board, ExCo and senior executive meetings. The role holder will need to be able to prepare summary packs re-using existing MI and ensuring consistency across all reporting.
5. The role includes leading transformation of reporting in partnership with regional and Global teams, including the use of digital visualisation tools to enhance reporting and drive efficiencies. The role holder will be expected to champion these solutions and help drive their adoption across the team.
The role holder will be supported by team members based in Paris, Krakow and India and will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the regional team in London.
The team is high profile, with frequent exposure to the Continental Europe CFO, Head of Strategy and other senior business leaders.
The focus on internal and external reporting will require the role holder to form strong relationships with the Continental Europe Business Finance, ALCM teams and the SP&ST teams in Germany, Malta and London, as well as with other teams in Finance and the Continental Europe Strategy team. This role will suit an individual who enjoys teamwork, is looking to work in a dynamic and fast changing environment and is keen to develop their business knowledge.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)
- Qualified Accountant from recognised EU / UK institute or overseas equivalent with significant PQE.
- Excellent oral and written English and communication skills, including the ability to explain complicated financial issues in clear (non-jargon) language.
- Strong analytical skills with a commercial bias, and an excellent grasp of business drivers.
- Proven influencing skills and an ability to engage and build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior management.
- Ambitious, driven and enthusiastic - pro-active thinker.
