**Summary / Role Purpose**

The Senior R&D Engineer joins the Licensing team of the Release Management Unit and is responsible for the development of Licensing Cloud-based solutions, delivering the next iteration of world-class enterprise-grade licensing services. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives to deliver business-critical services for a growing user base.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Contributes to planning, architecture, design, and research activities.
- Performs complex defect analysis, develops corrective solutions, and supports pre
- and post-release testing and verification efforts.
- Contributes and maintains shared documentation of services, architecture and design.
- Investigates and corrects issues discovered by QA and customer support.
- Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
- Leads on planning, architecture, and research activities.
- Works independently with mínimal supervision and is responsible for the planning and coordination of development efforts.

**Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience**
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
- Strong computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful API, API schemas, sustainable development practices, requirements and needs of maintaining business-critical services.
- Technical knowledge and commercial experience developing distributed API services written in TypeScript using the Node.js framework in an Agile development environment.

**Preferred Qualifications and Skills**
- Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with OpenAPI, Azure, Node.js, and Kubernetes.
- Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial organization
- Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
