R&d Analytical Scientist

IFF is very excited to welcome a new R&D Analytical Scientist to our team, and we hope it’s you

To strengthen the R&D analytical team in support of R&D projects on new natural ingredients for the F&F industry, we are looking for a Scientist experienced in the chemical analysis of natural extracts such as essential oils, absolutes and other plant extracts.

Under supervision of the team / lab manager you will carry out the qualitative and quantitative analyses required for the different phases of ingredient development, in compliance with established procedures and protocols, good laboratory practices, industrial property requirements, hygiene, safety and quality guidelines. Your level of qualification and/or professional experience will enable you to rapidly acquire a valuable degree of autonomy.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

- Implement the various physicochemical & chromatographic techniques (GC-FID/MS, LC-UV/MS) to investigate identity, purity, safety and naturalness of the sample studied.
- Valid technically, interpret and deliver in time the results upon manager’s approval
- Do routine preventive and/or corrective maintenance of analytical systems.
- Contribute to the development of new analytical methods and their validation.
- Participate to the sensory evaluation required for ingredient development.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the laboratory (ex: stock, sample and waste management, ordering of reagents and consumables)
- Participate to the development, implementation and improvement of the IFF Quality Management System
- Supervise and train trainees

**Job Requirements**:
We are looking for someone who:

- Invests its technical and analytical expertise to support the R&D of innovative and reliable natural ingredients
- Conducts laboratory bench exploratory research in the area of F&F analytical chemistry - both qualitative & quantitative - throughout the ingredient development process
- has a good knowledge of natural extracts and their chemical composition
- contributes scientifically and operationally to the development of lab research activities, technologies and chemical libraries.

Key competencies:

- Your Bachelor / BTEC analytical chemistry with 5-10 years’ experience or MSc Analytical chemistry with 1-2 years’ experience
- Your functional and technical knowledge and skills in analytical chemistry
- You are action oriented, agility, rigor, critical thinking team-spirit
- Operational in English
