**Role of the Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)**

The mechanical engineer supports the Owner (F4E) in assessing technical specifications and design for the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) discipline.

**Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)**

The mechanical engineer with a specialty in HVAC is responsible for:

- He/She is in charge of assessing technical solutions proposed by RESO-Engage (construction design) or contractors (execution design). This task is applicable to one or more of the following phases: design, manufacture, tests and commissioning, handover of mechanical systems.
- He/She is responsible for the assessment of technical reports, including identification of design deficiencies, if any, optimization possibilities and adaptations in case of constraints.
- The mechanical engineer shall support F4E for the project control, risk identification and planning management. He will assist the owner in the evaluation of assembly sequences and identification of potential interface issues.
- He/She will provide assistance to assess technical specifications, action plans and manufacturing/assembly schedules. If required, the mechanical engineer could also provide support for the drafting of these type of documents.
- Mechanical engineer shall use his expertise to give advice aimed at minimizing potential adverse impact of deviations and project modifications (mitigation plans), helping to ensure that the project is developed within the approved budget and deadlines.
- He/She is directly responsible for organizing his job with a methodical approach considering the priorities and objectives defined by his management, ensuring for the disciplines he covers that a coherent and reliable consolidated design regarding the owner’s requirements and the project constraints.
- He/She defines the quality control system required to assure the conformity of the work to the design, to the specifications, to the codes and standards (including all kind of regulation applicable in France to the disciplines he covers) and participates - as required by Quality Plan - to the key quality control acts during the development of the manufacture and the construction and their conformity to design and specifications. For the disciplines he covers, The Technical Specialist proposes solutions to F4E to solve the technical problems that may occur.
- The technical Specialist is in charge of technical assessment (compliance to requirements, technical feasibility, constructability, design development methodology, implementation, commissioning, control plan follow-up and other specific development tasks (feasibility studies, for instance) which may be needed, including writing technical specifications and reports.
