Manager I, Engineering

The Synthetics Testing & Monitoring organization is seeking a **hands-on Engineering Manager** to lead one of our teams responsible for the reliable execution of customer tests. You'll join a dynamic, multicultural group focused on building and evolving the core engine that powers millions of API, browser, and mobile tests every day. This engine is the foundation of our product, designed with reliability, resilience, and maintainability at its core.

As Engineering Manager, you'll play a dual role: actively contributing to development while empowering your team to deliver high-impact features. You'll collaborate closely with product, backend, and frontend teams to ensure the success of every new capability added to the engine. In addition, you'll collaborate with our Security and Escalation teams to proactively address client concerns and ensure trust in our solutions.

To uphold the trust of our many customers, you must be skilled at guiding your team in building robust, well-architected, and fault-tolerant solutions. Given the complexity of the web, mobile, and API ecosystem, this role also requires a strong learning mindset, a passion for staying ahead of emerging technologies, and a curiosity-driven approach to problem-solving and debugging user issues.

**What You'll Do**:

- Lead and mentor a team of Software Engineers.
- Collaborate closely with Product and the broader Synthetics team to deliver a best-in-class Synthetic Testing & Monitoring experience, from defining key results to driving operational excellence.
- Take an active role in designing and developing new engine capabilities used by customers worldwide, while proactively anticipating future technical and product needs.
- Continuously enhance the engine's robustness, maintainability, and resilience.
- Partner with Technical Support Engineers to promptly address customer feedback and resolve reported issues.

**Who You Are**:

- You have a proven track record of leading technical teams, with strong mentorship skills. Ideally, you've also contributed to career development and performance management.
- You stay hands-on, care deeply about code quality, and take a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to engineering challenges.
- You have programming experience in a structured programming language (TypeScript, Go, Python, etc.)
- You're a clear communicator and effective collaborator, comfortable navigating complex technical topics with a diverse set of stakeholders, including Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Technical Escalation Engineers, and Security teams.
- You're not afraid to dive into unfamiliar territory to troubleshoot issues and identify the most effective solutions.
- You thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, multicultural environment that values product excellence, collaboration, and tackling engineering challenges at scale.
