**Job Description Summary**:
Role Summary/Purpose

The France/Europe Senior L&E Counsel for GE Vernova is a qualified Lawyer specializing in laws & regulations/policies & practices as it pertains to employees, including in the areas of benefits and compensation across France and the Europe region. Must also specialize and provide guidance and counsel in works council and union negotiations and employee relations matters. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may influence work.
The location is flexible and can be home-based (with travel to sites required per needs of job), and the role will support multiple GE Vernova businesses in France and the Europe region. The position will be expected to work as part of the L & E Centre of Excellence.

Essential Responsibilities
- The role will have the following responsibilities:

- Providing legal advice and support on Labour and Employment law issues to GE Vernova in France and across Europe. Provide legal and compliance advice across a wide range of issues, including, for example, employee, works council and union relations; cross border restructuring projects, redundancies and outsourcing; equal opportunities and diversity; employment litigation; mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; collective bargaining obligations; employee discipline, grievances and termination; drafting of employment separation agreements; working time obligations.
- Retain and work effectively with outside counsel where required, and manage external counsel to reduce costs, secure value-added services and improve ‘make vs buy’ decisions.
- Work as part of the L&E team to drive simplification initiatives and consistent enterprise standards for Labour and Employment support across the Europe Region.
- Providing training for the HR and business teams on key employment and compliance risk areas.
- Keeping abreast of relevant legal developments in France and across Europe.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in France.
- Substantial legal post-qualification experience of labour and employment law in France and ideally some experience of labour & employment law in other European jurisdictions.
- Demonstrable fluency in English, including ability to draft and negotiate and present legal and business documents. Additional language capabilities would also be an advantage.

- Preferably time spent both with a leading law firm or in-house with a large multinational corporation, that includes:

- Extensive “hands-on” labour & employment legal experience, including experience of handling cross-border matters and major projects; and
- Substantial experience and success in working with senior management and international environments
- Superior advocacy skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in writing and orally, an aptitude for practical negotiation, the capability to think clearly and quickly under pressure, and the composure to satisfy multiple and often competing interests.
- A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism, and passion for excellence.

- Superior negotiating skills and ability to work in complex international environment, substantial experience working in different cultures and an open and tolerant mind with respect to diversity.
- Demonstrable computer literacy with specific ability to use Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and other software such as redlining tools.
- Strong project management and prioritisation skills
