Christie's, the world's leading international auction house, is recruiting a Senior Corporate Counsel to work in the Legal Department in Paris.

Purpose of the position

Delivering a business-focused legal and risk management service to Christie’s France. This position occupies a critical role as a senior member of the Christie’s global legal team reporting to legal management in Paris.

Principal responsibilities- Drafting, negotiating and advising on contracts for the sale of artworks and collectibles by auction, private sale and online and in connection with commercial matters such as partnerships, events and supplier arrangements.- Providing both day to day and strategic legal and strategic advice and guidance to Christie’s France’s management and business in relation to a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues including contracts, consumer protection, compliance (including AML), cultural property, import/export, CITES, data protection, disputes or real estate.- Supporting effectively pre litigation, disputes and regulatory inquiries for Christie’s France’s.-
- Supporting best practice and developing, contributing to and rolling-out training programmes, best practices and precedents.- Assisting in managing budget for internal and external legal spend and other professional costs.- Developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external counsels.

Required qualifications/experience

You must:
- Be qualified as a lawyer in France and have at least eight years’ post-qualification experience, including significant experience at a top law firm.- Have solid experience of
- _either _commercial law (general commercial work and consumer law issues) or corporate law (M&A and general corporate advice).- Be fluent, and experienced in drafting and advising, in English (in addition to French).- Have experience in negotiating high value contracts.

It would be very advantageous if you have:
- Experience with an auction house, or in the wider Art sector.- Experience in civil law (e.g. succession) and Intellectual Property law.- Experience in Litigation.- Experience working for a global organisation.
