**Contexte & Objectifs**
As part of the **France 2030 - atomQtrl** national program, the Institut d’Optique is opening a position to support the establishment of a **new experimental platform dedicated to the study and advanced characterization of laser systems**.
This initiative, led by a consortium of academic and industrial partners, is part of France’s strategic effort to **strengthen national sovereignty in laser technologies** used for the **manipulation of cold atoms** and, more broadly, for emerging **quantum technologies** such as clocks, sensors, and quantum simulators.
Beyond the immediate goals of the atomQtrl program, the platform is intended to become a **national reference center** for advanced laser evaluation and research, fostering collaboration between laboratories and industry.
**Missions principales**:
- Design and implement optical test benches for laser performance evaluation (spectral purity, temporal stability, noise, dynamics, coherence).
- Develop and validate measurement protocols and analysis methods adapted to different laser architectures.
- Contribute to the deployment and long-term development of the platform in collaboration with LP2N research teams and industrial partners.
- Acquire, process and interpret experimental data to understand and improve laser performance.
- Participate in research and development of innovative characterization approaches and diagnostic tools.
- Disseminate results through scientific publications, technical reports, and conference presentations.
**Profil recherché**
- Engineer or PhD in optics, laser physics, or experimental photonics.
- Proven experience in optical setup design, laser alignment and measurement techniques.
- Solid understanding of spectral, temporal and noise properties of lasers.
- Familiarity with signal processing, data acquisition and scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
- Team-oriented, rigorous, and motivated by experimental research.
- Scientific curiosity, creativity, and a proactive attitude toward innovation.
- The position is based at the Laboratoire Photonique, Numérique et Nanosciences (LP2N) within the Institut d’Optique d’Aquitaine, in close collaboration with the atomQtrl national program. The recruited researcher will play a key role in building a unique experimental platform for laser studies, contributing to France’s technological leadership in quantum and photonic sciences.
