Master’s degree or PhD in optical telecommunication or photonic systems.

- Excellent communication (oral, written), fluent in English.
- Deep knowledge of WDM systems physical tests and modeling, coherent transmissions, optical amplifiers technologies, ROADMs characterization, ideally with several publications or patents or conferences held

As an R&D Expert, you will provide advice and technical guidance in your area of expertise. You are a recognized expert in your field, both internally and our outside. You are permanently up-to-date with latest market and technology trends in your field, including competition. You are able to run tenders to select the best technology partners and make strategic recommendations to the top management. You will define optical engineering rules of optical networks based on our products portfolio. You will be part of a team of Architects and research engineers.

Identify needs and carry out high stake studies,
Drive optical transmission performance qualification of our products portfolio (amplifiers, ROADMs, transponders) on a multi 1000kms fiber test bed
Propose and benchmark various options in your field of expertise and build recommendations towards top management,
Maintain a deep level of expertise in your field, be technology savvy and a self-learner willing to share your knowledge with other team members,
Provide solutions and recommendations in a broad area of expertise
Develop training material and train / our coach staff - and potentially external partners or customers
Ensure a technology watch mission, keeping abreast of the evolutions, highlight and deepen the most strategic ones
Identify which new technologies, components, languages, practices are relevant to us, able to perform Proof of Concepts and build a case towards management, support adoption by our teams
Participate in working groups (internal and external), represent the company in external events, represent the company in standardization activities
Lead collaborative or funded projects with multiple stakeholders (internal and external)
Propose innovation ideas, file patents for our Company.

Profil recherché
Master’s degree or PhD in optical telecommunication or photonic systems.
Professional experience 7 years minimum
Deep knowledge of WDM systems physical tests and modeling, coherent transmissions, optical amplifiers technologies, ROADMs characterization, ideally with several publications or patents or conferences held
A good knowledge of optical transmission laboratory environment is necessary: Optical spectrum analyzer, BER tester, power meter etcAbility to use and develop python or C++ programs for automatic test bench would be a plus.
Ability to learn including self-training

Fluent in English and French (oral and written)
Able to work in an international team
Good verbal/written communication skills
Ability to manage PhD students
Able to support the optical transport R&D team when introducing new technologies or new subsystems in our company's portfolio.
