**About the job**:
As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It's a big job that involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.
As an Energy Regulatory Negotiator, you will lead energy regulatory and market development initiatives that ensure Google’s European data centers have access to cost-effective power supply options, and advance market solutions to help ensure Google meets its carbon-free energy goals. In this role, you will help to drive the team's overall energy-related strategy development and execution, lead individual strategic initiatives and projects, and work with teams across the company in support of Google's data center energy portfolio.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead strategic evaluations of regulatory and policy environments, including electricity industry trends, electric pricing/rates, stakeholder interests, and electricity institutional structures to assess risks and opportunities for Google’s data center electricity supply portfolio.
- Lead strategic engagement within the European business ecosystem to grow energy products and solutions for grid decarbonization.
- Develop and lead efforts to further market solutions to Google’s clean electricity supply needs, including design of regulatory and market change strategies as well as critical implementation tactics such as coalition building, analytical solutions, and stakeholder engagement.
- Work cross-functionally with others on Google’s Global Infrastructure, Product, Public Policy, and other teams to develop policy and market positions and communicate to key constituencies.
- Lead energy-related advocacy work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies to advance Google’s strategic energy interests and priorities.
