Research Engineer in Operations Research Applied to

**About the role**:
Technological transformations of both fixed networks (Fiber to the Home, virtualization) and mobiles networks (5G and beyond, 6G) allow the rise of a great range of new telecommunication services and business opportunities for telecommunication operators (smart grid, smart cities, smart industry). In such context, optimizing network infrastructures planning and management strategies, as well as their monetization, are undoubtedly key stakes for Orange.

With that purpose, you identify structuring decision problems in collaboration with Orange business units and you lead the design and implementation of dedicated algorithmic solutions, as well the transfer of the acquired knowledge and designed technological assets.

You contribute to Orange scientific influence, as well as to the promotion of the research works and expertise sharing throughout the Orange Group.

Activities

You will be in charge of:

- Develop an hybrid expertize in mathematical approaches mixing combinatorial optimization and Artificial Intelligence (algorithms for game solving, MDP, reinforcement learning).
- Contribute to the development of decision-making software prototypes.
- Collaborate with Orange operational and business units: identify high-stake and structuring decision problems and valorize your research results.
- You will publish the results of your work in scientific journals and conferences.
- You may be required to patent your innovations.
- You may be required to participate in French or European cooperative projects.
- You may be required to manage research contracts partnership.
- You may be required to supervise PHD students, post-docs or interns.

**About you**:
You graduated from an engineering school or master diploma in applied mathematics, informatics or communication sciences, owning expectedly a PhD in one of these fields.

Technical skills in:

- Skills in applied mathematics, notably in the following Artificial Intelligence fields: Operations Research, Machine Learning, Game Theory,
- Knowledge of the classical on-shelf tools in Operations Research (solvers) and Artificial Intelligence (libraries),
- Skills in software development:

- you master a programming language such as Python, Julia, C++
- you practice Software Engineering rules (versioning, unitary tests,)

A successful experience as back-end developer is an asset.
