The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its
Group Risk & Compliance Directorate (GR&C) - Group Financial Risk Department (GFIN) - Derivatives Division (DER) - Counterparty Credit Risk Unit (RKU)
, at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Objective of the traineeship
As part of the Counterparty Credit Risk Unit, you will contribute to the development of innovative tools aimed at automating the estimation of derivatives valuation adjustments (XVAs), including Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA), Debit Valuation Adjustment (DVA), Funding Valuation Adjustment (FVA), and Margin Valuation Adjustment (MVA). Drawing on both internal and external data sources, your work will support the enhancement of risk measurement processes and improve the efficiency and accuracy of valuation reporting. This traineeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in quantitative finance and risk analytics within a dynamic and forward-looking team.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Automate the current Excel-based tool for XVA estimation, in Excel or other preferred programming language,
- Prepare and improve reports on financial risks (interest rate, liquidity, funding).
- Support updates to financial risk policies and internal documentation.
- Assist in testing and documenting ALM models and methodologies.
- Analyze financial data to support accurate and insightful reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in risk analysis.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
Final year of studies or University degree in either:
Finance/Economics
- Mathematics/Physics/Engineering
Computer Science/ IT
Basic understanding of financial risk concepts and ALM principles would be an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, SQL and at least one programming language
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
